The First World Conference on Breast Cancer - "Break the Silence - Stop the Epidemic: Opening the Doors to Dialogue Around the World," was held in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, July 13-17, 1997.

The conference was organized by the World Conference on Breast Cancer Committee, in Kingston, and the Women's Environment and Development Organization (WEDO), New York.
