Grant Recipients for Research on Aging Announced

Reflecting America's growing concern about the consequences of "age boom," corporations, foundations, and individuals have come together to provide $1 million to support new research into aging and age-related diseases.

The American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR) will distribute these funds to 25 investigators around the country, part of its ongoing efforts to launch scientific careers in biomedical and clinical research on aging. Each researcher will receive a $40,000 "AFAR Research Grant." Most investigators use the award to accumulate the preliminary data needed to apply for highly competitive major research grants from institutions such as the National...
