Breast Cancer (Funding)

$1.5 Million Invested for Research Into New Detection Technologies

Hyal Pharmaceutical and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) announced the joint funding of a $1.5 million research project headed by Dr. Francoise Winnik of McMaster University, Toronto, Canada, to investigate the use of new technologies in detecting breast cancer in its early stages.

Hyal Pharmaceutical is contributing over $1 million over three years to support this research; NSERC is contributing $490,000 over the same period.

Dr. Winnik and her co-workers will study the use of hyaluronic acid (HA) in conjunction with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in mammography to better detect breast cancer in its early stages....
