Attitudes about Breast Cancer Genetics and Preventive Strategies: A National Survey of French Medical and Surgical Gynaecologists

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the American Society of Human Genetics 47th Annual Meeting, held October 28 - November 1, 1997, in Baltimore, Maryland, "Women with breast cancer in their families will first consult their gynaecologists before attending more specialized cancer family clinics. To assess physicians' attitudes about giving breast cancer genetic information and about the preventive options available, we surveyed a randomized national sample (n=1,372) of the physicians most likely to be confronted with this demand (gyneco-obstetricians, surgeons specialized in gynecology, general surgeons). The overall response rate of 51% (n=700) did not vary...
