"Seventy percent of psychiatric outpatients are women and depression is twice as common in females as it is in males," said Ellen Haller, MD, director of WomenCare Mental Health Clinic, a new clinical service at UCSF. "There are many mental health problems that are unique to women, such as PMS [pre-menstrual syndrome] and post-partum disorders."
