Analgesic May Reduce Cancer Risk

A significant association has been found between using paracetamol, an over-the-counter analgesic, and reduced ovarian cancer risk, but researchers caution against recommendations until the finding is verified by replication.

Spurred by the finding that aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs reduce the risk of colorectal cancer, Dr. Daniel Cramer and colleagues from Boston, Massachusetts, did a case-control study of the use of over-the-counter analgesics and risk of ovarian cancer.
