U.S. Blacks Very Concerned About AIDS

The statistics are alarming: Black women make up 60 percent of all new AIDS cases reported among U.S. women, and have an overall AIDS case rate 16 times that of their white counterparts.

Two-thirds of the new cases of pediatric AIDS striking children under 13 are black children, while black men account for 39 percent of new AIDS cases among all U.S. men.

African-Americans are twice as worried about AIDS as the rest of the country, and most feel the government is not doing enough to fight the disease in their communities, according to newly-released survey results.
