Evaluation of Serum Riboflavin Carrier Protein (RCP) Levels as a New Non-Invasive Marker for Breast Cancer Detection

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the Cancer Symposium, a jointly-sponsored conference of the Society of Surgical Oncology and the World Federation of Surgical Oncology Societies, held March 26-29, 1998, in San Diego, California, "Introduction: RCP is an estrogen induced protein synthesized by the liver. Since mammary cancer is also regulated by estrogen, it was of interest to evaluate RCP dynamics in breast cancer. Methods: A prospective double blind study of serum RCP levels in 65 women (46 women with intact tumor and 19 control subjects) was undertaken.
