Estrogen Studies Focus on Minority Women

The role of estrogen in treating osteoporosis is generally accepted, but how much estrogen, and for whom, are the subjects of two research studies at the University of Connecticut Health Center (UCHC).

Once thought a disease largely affecting Caucasian women, research done at the Claude Pepper Older American Independence Center, part of UCHC in Farmington, Connecticut, has shown that osteoporosis is a disease to which all older women, regardless of racial or ethnic background, are at risk.
