Of 10,666 nulliparas {{less than or equal to}}34 years of age and giving birth at the University Hospital of Uppsala between 1987 and 1993, 469 (4.4 percent) developed gestational hypertension and 555 (5.2 percent) developed preeclampsia, reported H.S. Ros and colleagues at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden ("Comparison of Risk Factors for Preeclampsia and Gestational Hypertension in a Population-Based Cohort Study," American Journal of Epidemiology, June 1, 1998;147(11):1062-70).
