Progestin-Only Contraceptives May Increase Type 2 Diabetes Risk in Patients with History of Gestational Diabetes

The incidence of contracting type 2 diabetes following a prior case of gestational diabetes, while already high, is increased nearly three times more in women using progestin-only contraceptives, according to an article in the August 12, 1998, issue of The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA, 1998;280:533-538)
