Estrogen Could Play Significant Role in Alzheimer's

Several years ago, researchers showed that estrogen causes a dramatic increase in the density of nerve cell connections in a region of the brain known as the hippocampus, which has been associated with memory formation, and with Alzheimer's disease. Before that, sex hormones such as estrogen were not thought to affect the hippocampus, simply because the hippocampus has nothing to do with reproduction.
