Abused Women at Higher Risk for Maternal/Infant Complications

Physically and sexually abused pregnant women are at significantly higher risk for maternal and fetal complications, according to a study in the October 1998 issue of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

The study revealed that abused women are at greater risk for having a low birth weight (LBW) infant, preterm delivery, miscarriage, and fetal or newborn death.
