Phase II Trial Seeks Patients with Fibrocystic Breast Disease

Symbollon Corporation and Clinical Studies, Ltd. (CSL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of PhyMatrix Corp., announced that they have begun recruiting patients for a Phase II clinical trial investigating the safety and efficacy of IoGenTM, a novel drug compound used in the treatment of symptoms associated with moderate and severe fibrocystic breast disease (FBD).

The multicenter study represents the first human clinical trial for IoGen. Published scientific literature describes a relationship between iodine and healthy breast tissue, according to CSL.
