Lactational Amenorrhea: Maximizing The Contraceptive Effect

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 39th Meeting of the American College of Nutrition, held October 1-4, 1998, in Albuquerque, New Mexico USA, "Previous literature has described some hormone profiles and some breastfeeding practices associated with lactational amenorrhea (absence of menses). However, the research does not identify why some women have a brief period of amenorrhea and others have prolonged amenorrhea, seemingly in the face of similar breastfeeding practices.
