Risk Factors Associated with Arterial Wall Stiffness in Women With SLE

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 62nd National Meeting of the American College of Rheumatology, held November 8-12, 1998, in San Diego, California, USA, "Pulse wave velocity (PWV), a non-invasive measure of vascular stiffness, may be a surrogate marker of early vascular changes that predispose to the development of major vascular disease. Arteries are known to become stiffer with age and with higher blood pressure but have not been previously characterized in women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
