Black Cohosh Root Reviewed As an Alternative to HRT

A recent literature review focused on Cimicifuga racemosa (black cohosh root) as a safe and effective alternative to conventional hormone therapy.

"The positive influence of [Cimicifuga] on the profile of menopausal ailments has been established in open and in controlled investigations using established and validated testing procedures," stated Shari Lieberman, PhD, CNS, of the School of Nutrition at the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut, in her recent review of this herb ("Black Cohosh for Menopausal Symptoms," Alternative Complementary Therapies, October 1998;4(5):309-312).
