U.S. Gov't Announces New Initiative, Health Benefits for Women

As part of a national outreach effort, U.S. Secretary of Labor Alexis Herman announced new initiatives by the Department of Labor to make 83.1 million women in America aware of their new rights under recent health care laws as well as to help them understand the basic rules affecting their health benefit programs.

She also unveiled new guidance to alert women to their right to elect breast reconstruction in connection with a mastectomy under the Women's Health and Cancer Rights Act as well as benefits relating to childbirth under the Newborn' and Mothers' Protection Act.
