Raloxifene Reduces Risk of New Spine Fractures

Treatment with raloxifene significantly reduced the risk of new spine fractures in post-menopausal women with osteoporosis in a recent study.

The findings were announced at the Second Joint Meeting of The American Society for Bone and Mineral Research and The International Bone and Mineral Society held December 1-6, 1998, in San Francisco, California.

Spine fractures are the most common fracture related to osteoporosis, and new spine fractures are associated with increases in back pain and back-related disability.
