Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Tops 100-City Mark

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, a progressive, grassroots, breast cancer organization in the U.S., has reached a major milestone. The addition of 14 new affiliates in 1999 has brought its volunteer network to a total of 104 affiliates representing 43 states and the District of Columbia.

"I'm amazed to see how the organization has grown from a roomful of friends at the time of its founding to a network of more than 30,000 volunteers throughout the United States," said Nancy Brinker, founding chair of the Komen Foundation.
