Shroud of Mystery Lifted from Emergency Contraception

Emergency contraception pill use, once a mystery to most women and recently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is now an everyday option to all.

The declaration by the FDA that emergency contraception pills (birth control pills containing levonorgestral or norgestral and consumed in doses of two within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse and two more 12 hours later) are "safe and effective" opened the doors for all women to choose this contraceptive option.
