Patent Allowed for Cervical Cancer Test

Matritech, Inc. announced that it has been notified by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office that its patent application for the use of NMP179 -- which aids in the identification of and permits more effective management of women with cervical cancer or pre-cancerous conditions -- has been allowed.

When issued, the patent will grant protection to Matritech's NMP179TM, a cell-based diagnostic test which differentiates cancerous and pre-cancerous cervical cells from normal cervical cells and may be used to predict the likelihood of disease progression.
