Breastfeeding Shoppers Sue Wal-Mart

Two mothers who allege that Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., interfered with their right to breastfeed their babies have sued the retailer.

"Money is not the issue. It's an issue of justice," the women's attorney, Susan Brasier, said.

The lawsuit was filed in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court in Ohio by two women and their sons. It alleges that the mothers and their children were the victims of either sex discrimination or age discrimination when the women were denied the right to breastfeed their children in a public area of Wal-Mart stores in 1997.
