"Anti-HLA Antibody Response after Pre-Transplant Blood Transfusion in Women: A Marker for Early Post-Transplant Allograft Rejection."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 9th Congress of the European Society for Organ Transplantation and the 11th Congress of the European Transplant Coordinators Organization, held June 19-24, 1999, in Oslo, Norway, "Introduction: In anti-HLA antibody-negative recipients, pre-transplant blood transfusion (PBT) may have beneficial effects on the outcome of cadaveric renal transplantation (RT). However, some recipients respond with anti-HLA antibodies after PBT, indicating previous sensitization by blood transfusions or pregnancies.
