Estrogen, Osteoporosis, Periodontal Disease, and Tooth Loss

Recent research suggests that an estrogen deficiency could place post-menopausal women at higher risk for severe periodontal (gum) disease and tooth loss, according to one of the presenters at the 140th American Dental Association (ADA) Annual Session.

Barbara J. Steinberg, DDS, presented a lecture on "Treating the Female Patient: Medical and Dental Considerations," during the ADA's Scientific Session.
