Because paresthesias and post-dural puncture headaches (PDPH) are problematic during spinal needle placement during CSE, Ruth Landau, MD, of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, USA, and associates compared needle sizes used for this procedure.
Their study, entitled, "Complications with 25G and 27G Whitacre Needles during Combined Spinal-Epidural Analgesia in Labor," was presented at the 1999 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, held October 9-13, 1999, Dallas, Texas, USA.
