It is estimated that around 1 in 4 pregnant women in the UK continues to smoke during pregnancy, and there is evidence to suggest that the prevalence of smoking is falling less rapidly among women in general.
Just under 800 young women, pregnant for the first time, completed detailed 7-day food diaries. Around 40 percent of the women were smokers.
Smokers had significantly lower intakes of most vitamins and minerals, although dietary intakes were similar between the smokers and non-smokers. ...
