More Evidence Links Infectious Disease with Atherosclerosis

Scientist in Germany offer further evidence that Chlamydia pneumoniae infection may be associated with coronary artery disease.

Results of the study were published in Deutsche Medizinische Wochenschrift.

The study was designed to examine the effect of chlamydial stress (heat shock) protein 60 (HSP 60) on atheroma tissue from 42 patients (27 clinically acute coronary syndrome and 15 acute angina).
