Women with HIV Studied for Cervical Changes

Scientists recently reported on the epidemiology of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and cervical neoplasia in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected women. Discussing their work at the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists 31st Annual Meeting, held in San Diego, California, the researchers said HPV and abnormal Pap smears tend to be common in these patients. Ronald D. Alvarez and colleagues at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, reported the results of their epidemiological investigation in a presentation entitled, "Understanding the Unique Epidemiology of HPV Infection and Cervical Neoplasia in HIV Infected Women: A Longitudinal Study." ...
