Increasing Epirubicin Dosing Significantly Decreases Metastatic Breast Cancer Pain

For patients with metastatic breast cancer undergoing the FEC drug regimen (5-fluorouracil, epirubicin, and cyclophosphamide), doubling the dose intensity of the epirubicin (EPI) component can have a significant positive effect on pain and self-image, say researchers. "From May 1995 [to May 1997], 74 consecutive patients with MBC were randomly treated with six courses of two FEC regimens containing 60 (60FEC) or 120 (120FEC, supported by primary G-CSF) mg/m(2) of EPI," explained A.
