IND Filed for Seasonale Oral Contraceptive

Barr Laboratories, Inc. (BRL), Pomona, New York, announced that it has filed an Investigational New Drug (IND) application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Seasonale proprietary oral contraceptive product.

Speaking at the UBS Warburg Dillon Read Global Specialty Pharmaceuticals Conference in New York City, Bruce L. Downey, Barr said that patient recruitment for the Phase III clinical studies could begin as early as Summer 2000.

Seasonale is an innovative patent-protected oral contraceptive product being developed through an agreement with the Medical College of Hampton Roads, Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS).
