Automated PCR Technology Offered for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea

American Medical Laboratories and Associated Pathologists Laboratories, (AML/APL) announced they are the first national clinical reference laboratory to offer Roche Diagnostics' Cobas Amplicor CT/NG Test.

The automated dual test for Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) runs on the Cobas Amplicor system, a single tabletop workstation, and employs Roche Diagnostics' patented polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology. The test enables these sexually transmitted organisms to be detected with greater sensitivity than conventional testing, such as culture or direct DNA probe.
