Study Findings Refute Beneficial Effects of Statin Medications

In contrast to findings released earlier this year, researchers from the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) Observational Study have found that statin medication use does not have a significant effect on fracture risk.

Andrea LaCroix, PhD, of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the Women's Health Initiative Clinical Coordinating Center, presented these findings at the 22nd Annual Meeting of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR), held September 22-26, 2000, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
