Mayris P. Webber and colleagues at the Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland, conducted a study to "assess the detection and quantitation of HIV 1 from tampon eluents in comparison with cervicovaginal lavage (CVL) and plasma specimens from the same women."
