Doctors In U.K. See No Problem With HRT For Diabetes Patients

Kohn, MS, ELS(D), senior medical writer - General practitioners and hospital-based physicians in England say hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has no negative effect on glucose control and would recommend it to their diabetic patients, according to the results of a survey reported in the journal Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolism.

S.L Palin and colleagues at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, West Midlands, U.K., found that only 17% of postmenopausal women in the U.K. are prescribed HRT by their physicians, "with diabetic women being prescribed HRT 30% less often than non-diabetic women."
