Postmenopausal African-American Women Face Heart Disease Danger During Sleep

Postmenopausal African-American women whose blood pressure does not drop at night are at greater risk for cardiovascular disease than white women, according to a study in the August 2001 issue of the American Journal of Hypertension.

It is the first biracial study conducted in the United States to show the effects of ethnicity and menopause on blood pressure dipping in African-American women and white women of European descent.
