New Computer Tool Helps Forecast Outlook For Patients

A powerful computer program to help doctors discuss early breast cancer treatment has been developed in the U.S. to help patients make more informed decisions about their future prospects.

It was described at ECCO 11 - the European Cancer Conference in Lisbon, Portugal. The program produces easy-to-read reviews of different treatment options and also forecasts the individual's chances of 10-year survival. It is based on international studies of treatment options and data from U.S. tumor registries highlighting the risk of dying from particular types of breast cancer.
