Alternative hormone treatment shows early promise

A fast-track study in the June 22, 2002, Lancet suggests that the drug anastrozole could be an effective option for the treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone-sensitive early breast cancer.

Tamoxifen therapy for 5 years after surgery is the established treatment for postmenopausal women with hormone-sensitive breast cancer.
