Women's health company seeks to raise $15M; begins phase II trials

FemmePharma, Inc.'s, lead drug for the treatment of endometriosis is currently being studied in a nationwide phase II clinical trial with one center in the Chicago area.

FemmePharma, based in Wayne, Pennsylvania, a Philadelphia suburb, was founded in 1996 by CEO Gerianne Tringali DiPiano. DiPiano approached investors with her plan to form a pharmaceutical company devoted to women's unmet health needs.

According to DiPiano, "Drug companies assume that their products have equal applicability to men and women, despite inherent physiological differences between the sexes." DiPiano estimates the women's healthcare segment to be a $35 billion...
