Intratumoral peak systolic velocity could be prognostic for survival

Researchers in Japan think intratumoral peak systolic velocity perhaps could be used as a prognostic tool to predict survival, preoperatively, in women with epithelial ovarian cancer.

K. Hata and colleagues, Shimane Med University, discussed their study in the journal Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology.

"Color Doppler imaging and pulsed Doppler spectral analysis were used in the investigation of 49 patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (19 serous, 15 mucinous, 8 endometrioid, 4 clear cell and 3 Brenner cell) immediately before laparotomy. Twenty-two were stage I, 6 were stage II, 17 were stage III and 4 were stage IV," the researchers...
