Hepatitis B Virus Vaccine



Pediatric travelers benefit from accelerated vaccine schedule

by Sonia Nichols, senior medical writer - Children headed to areas where hepatitis B virus (HBV) rates are high can benefit from accelerated hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccine schedules.

Other youth, including ones about to undergo procedures involving blood or blood products and ones at risk for not completing a three dose schedule can also benefit from an accelerated schedule, according to researchers in Diyarbakir, Turkey at Dicle University Medical School.

The researchers recently completed a study comparing a standard 6-month vaccination schedule with an accelerated 21-day vaccination schedule in 40 previously unvaccinated children. Their findings...
