Treatments, outcomes differ widely among women of different races, ethnicities

Important disparities in breast-cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survival among American women of various racial and ethnic backgrounds are documented in a new study by researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

These findings by Christopher Li, MD, PhD, and colleagues, published Jan. 13 in Archives of Internal Medicine, are based on the largest, most comprehensive study of its kind to evaluate the relationship between race/ethnicity and breast-cancer stage, treatment and survival.
