Dissatisfaction up, residency applications down, in ob-gyn

Although most obstetrician-gynecologists are satisfied with their careers, nearly 1 in 4 ob-gyns is experiencing significant dissatisfaction with their profession, according to a report in the September 2003 issue of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

A related editorial notes the decline in the number of senior U.S. medical students entering the field of ob-gyn. Action is needed to reverse these trends that do not bode well for the future of women's health care, say the authors.
