Report says drug treatment in northern New Mexico fragmented

Drug treatment and prevention services in northern New Mexico are fragmented, offer few programs for women, and have no public accountability system, according to a new report.

A lack of political support for those services and little cooperation among the 21 agencies funded to provide them also plagues the region's fight against drugs, according the report by Visionary Collaborative to Provide a Health Community Environment.

The coalition of 100 healthcare professionals and community leaders from Rio Arriba and Santa Fe counties was asked to come up with suggestions to spend a $1.5 million state grant. The group recently submitted its 152-page...
