Family faces risks in birth of sextuplets

A Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, woman pregnant with six embryos after taking fertility drugs had to choose: bear all six and risk their and her health and survival, or selectively kill four to give two a better chance.

Jennifer Hanselman, 29, chose risk.

On January 11, 2004, at 21 weeks and just more than halfway to full term, the three boys and three girls weigh about a pound apiece. She said one doctor has told her they'll have a 90% chance of surviving if she makes it to 28 weeks, still 3 months premature.
