One-third of women seeking emergency care have suffered from abuse in lifetime

One in three women seeking emergency medical care in inner-city hospitals has suffered domestic violence at some point in her life, according to a U.K. study.

Dinesh Sethi, MD, Health Policy Unit, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and colleagues published their study in the Emergency Medicine Journal (Experience of domestic violence by women attending an inner city accident and emergency department. Emerg Med J, 2004;21:180-184).
