CDC, health officials use innovative ways to fight diseases abroad

When U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) officials were faced with the task of keeping villagers in Ghana from ingesting microscopic worm larvae that causes guinea worm disease, they turned to local women to spread the message.

"A small group of motivated women can generate a very good response in their community," said Hilda Seda of the CDC.
