State drops controversial language from web site suggesting abortion link

The Minnesota Health Department has dropped from its web site controversial language suggesting a possible link between abortion and breast cancer.

The new text, posted in mid-April 2004, says that while early studies suggested a connection, two conclusive studies find no increased risk of breast cancer among women who have had abortions.

Earlier versions made the cancer risks seem more dire for women who had had abortions, and the potential link has been hotly contested in the politically-charged abortion battle.
