NY-ESO-1 shows promise as an antigen for vaccine development to treat breast cancer patients with a poor prognosis. According to recent research published in the journal Cancer Research, "NY-ESO-1 is a cancer/testis antigen expressed in normal adult tissues solely in the testicular germ cells of normal adults and in various cancers.
