Virologists call for follow-up of HPV+ women

Researchers called on French health system to follow up on women after studying the prevalence of human papillomavirus in that country's female population.

"Since human papillomavirus (HPV) is the central causal factor in cervical cancer, understanding the epidemiology of this infection constitutes an important step towards development of strategies for prevention," reported A. Bebydefaux and colleagues in a recent issue of the Journal of Medical Virology.
